El Dorado Country Wine Tour
August 5-11, 2024
California's Sierra Foothills Wine Region lies on the western side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains with some vineyards having been cultivated as early as the 1830's during the gold rush. The climate of the El Dorado Country foothills is suitable for some of the world's best wine grapes, including those from Bordeaux, the Rhone, Germany, Italy and Spain It is a hidden treasure among California wine area, with vineyards producing excellent wine varieties and styles. The region has over 70 distinct wine types and 100 plus wineries. The region was recognized as an American Vinicultural area in 1983 and continues to produce amazing wines. Whether you prefer the boldness of a rich red or the refreshing crispness of a white, these wineries have something to satisfy all.
Tentative Agenda:
Day 1 - Fly from Orlando to Sacramento. Travel to Placerville with lodging at the Historic Cary House. Group dinner at the Main Street Tap House and Brewery.
Day 2 - Breakfast on your own. Bus departs at 9AM with a stop to buy lunch supplies at a Holiday Market Grocery Store & Deli to be used at a picnic at the 2nd winery. 11AM is our first tasting at Vino Noceto Winery. We then travel a short distance to Kamere Winery to enjoy lunch at the tables on site at the vineyard. At approx. 1PM we have a tasting of wines and champagne. 1:50 we load the bus to Andis Winery for a tasting after which we travel back to the hotel. Dinner on our own.
Day 3 - Breakfast on your own. The morning is free to enjoy the shops and sites of Historic Placerville. Lunch on our own. 1PM departure to travel to Mira Flores Winery for a 5 tasting (flight board). This winery is said to be like an Italian Villa. At 2:45 we head to Nello Olivo Winery approx. 20 minutes away. This winery will also have a flight board tasting as well as an attached Brewery. At 4:45 PM we travel back to the hotel. Dinner on your own.
Day 4 - Breakfast on your own. We have a 10AM departure for Lodi, CA. Lunch will be at the Dancing Fox Winery with a wine tasting afterwards. There is a fantastic gift shop here! 1:30 departure for Berghold Winery for a tasting. Departure back to the Cary House.

Day 5 - Breakfast on your own. Hotel check out with luggage as we are moving to the Embassy Suites in Sacramento for the last 2 nights. Today we will explore Gold Bug Mine in the morning - approx. 15 minutes from Placerville. In the afternoon, we will drive to Columa, CA one of the first gold rush towns in CA. Lunch will be in Columa with free time afterwards to explore the museum and history of the old original buildings that have been restored from the 1800's. Departure at 3:30 for Sacramento to the Embassy Suites.
Group Dinner tonight.
Day 6 - Breakfast included at the hotel. Free day to explore Sacramento. Dinner on your own.
Day 7 - Depart SF for Orlando

Tour price, based on a minimum of 16 passengers*:
$2800 per person, double occupancy
$3500 per person, single supplement
**This Tour price does NOT include airfare. We will be flying into Sacramento airport.
*Should the number of passengers drop below 16, the tour will be subject to re-costing.
