Mt Bachelor, Oregon

Florida Ski Council Ski Trip

February 24 - March 2, 2024

In the heart of Central Oregon you’ll find Mt. Bachelor, a spectacular extinct volcano rising out of the Deschutes National Forest and surrounded by 2 million acres of forested wilderness providing for scenic beauty rarely visible elsewhere. Crowds are minimal here, and the mountain is large. With over 4,300 acres of lift-accessible terrain, Mt. Bachelor is the 6th largest ski resort in North America! Skiers and boarders can go 360 degrees off the summit and find a wide variety of terrain including tree skiing at its best. Located on the eastern flanks of Oregon’s Central Cascades, Mt. Bachelor is known for its light, dry snow, diverse terrain, family-friendliness, and long seasons. The combination of the serene Deschutes National Forest and inviting Central Oregon hospitality with the unique experience of skiing powder for nearly the entire season on a dormant volcano has become a destination for skiers and riders from all over the world. If you have yet to visit Mt. Bachelor, now is the time to check it off your bucket list!

Do you want more snow and at a lower elevation, than this is the trip for you. The base elevation is 5700 feet and top elevation is 9065 feet. Most other resorts start at 9000 feet and go up from there. The annual average is over 450 inches of snow with over 150 inch base. Compare that to other resorts you are thinking about.

Bend, more a city than resort town, is located less than 30 minutes from the slopes. When exploring the town, you will find that Bend is know as "beer city, USA" with 12+ popular breweries around just the down town area. Don’t worry wine lovers, you are in central Oregon, home to several boutique wineries. Plus staying downtown gives you the convenience to the many nearby boutique shops and restaurants for any budget within easy walking distance.

Our group lodging is at the Riverhouse on the Deschutes which is also the location of all the FSC parties. Nestled on the banks of the Deschutes River, The Riverhouse is Central Oregon's premier hotel. These hotel rooms feature amenities that include microwave, refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker, large flat screen TV, free high-speed Wi-Fi and more. Also a daily full breakfast is included. Among the three restaurants housed in the property, the steakhouse 'Crossings' is best known. We are located just five minutes from downtown Bend, and within walking distance to the Scenic Deschutes River Trail, and about 30 minutes from the Redmond airport.
